Xspedius Communications
Xspedius Communications expedites integrated communications services. The company offers local access, long-distance, dedicated Internet access, and other data services to small and midsized businesses across the South. Xspedius has expanded its network footprint through several acquisitions. In 2002, it acquired Virginia-based e.spire Communications; it followed up with the purchase of Mpower's Texas assets in 2003 and ICG's assets in five southeastern markets in 2005. Xspedius now operates in some 46 markets in 20 states, plus Washington, DC. It also offers network access to other carriers and service providers in 36 markets. The company's investors include Brown Brothers Harriman and Meritage Private Equity.
